Riding bikes

Here is a quick update on our last week.

The warm winds of spring blew thru Mount Vernon this week! Zach was working from his home office Monday-Wednesday. The kids played outside for a few hours, off and on, most days. We had a great time riding bikes together! (despite my uncomfortably small bike seat)

Storytime on Wednesday at our library we saw some rain & hail. Boo!

As the week ended, it became colder. We went outside anyway and all ended up sick!  Fevers were had, medicine was taken.  The kids and I were sick and useless all weekend. Zach was well and productive though.

He mowed and pulled a roller over the yard.  Then he push mowed where needed and weed whipped! Everything looks beautiful and fresh outside now.

Ready for May!

Other more worthy moments from this week:
Toben pointed to every word, and read by memorization, Pete the Cat and his four groovy buttons.  He loves this silly book.  'Take-a-ways' are his new favorite math equation.(Read it to understand the connection)

Fiona had a sweet moment while dreadfully sick. She found the acetametaphen that had been left on the counter and brought it to me. In her other hand she held the little plastic pink spoon she uses to feed her baby dolls.  We use a tap from the kitchen and Jr looks similar to her play spoon. I asked, "Do you want some medicine?" Out of her pouty sad face came a huge smile and a hiss sound(because that's her way of saying yessssss) Not sure if she knew medicine can make her feel better, but it was a pitiful sight nonetheless.

Toben's 1st Gymnastics Class

Toben attended his first gymnastics class this past Friday evening.  It was his first class that was completely Mommy-free; and I was curious to see how he would handle listening to a teacher and interacting with the other kids.  To my delight he was in a fantastic mood that day.  He energetically went to the teacher when she called to the children and listened well.  I took some short clips of his class with my phone so Zach could see later.  Ill share them below.

First they did some stretching.  Next they lined up on a white line and did some warm up activities.  Toben could see me from the white line and I gave him a huge (embarrassing to a normal kid) wave and he energetically waved back. I blew him a kiss and he blew one back and gave me a huge smile.  He  was having a blast!

Toben is the slow crawler in the white T-shirt and green shorts.

Toben is one of the faster kids in this clip.

Below, Toben attempts to hang from the bar and stick his legs out at a 90 degree angel.

Later Toben walks on the beam with a bit of apprehension to the  height.  When the  teacher asked if the beam was too high, he played it cool and said he was okay.  I could tell from his body language that he was scared a bit.

Welp, there you have it, Toben is growing up.  He is able to function in society without me.  So begins the process of me letting go.    :,(

After gymnastics we strolled downtown with my cousin Stephanie who had been visit all week.  Here are two nice shots of the outing.

We spent some time downtown at SPI, which the kids LOVE!  Lots of things to play with at the SPI Spot!(a science based play area geared toward pre-school age kids)
